Hi, I have recently returned to Australia and am finding that most Australian employers dont care about an IOSH or a NEBOSH - I hold both. I am looking to retrain in a Cert IV OHS which is the preferred requirement here - but does anyone know how that relates to either of the above? I reckon a NEBOSH is at least equal to, if not better than a Cert IV.....any thoughts? thanks, Jen

Have you talked to IOSH HQ about it? - I'm sure they would be able to advise

Hi Jen I suggest you also discuss with SIA whether there are any reciprocal arrangements. Good luck, Peter

Jen, Do you have a NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma? The Certificate is lower level than Cert4 and the Diploma a higher level as at level 6 on the English educational framework it is at an equivalent level to a Bachelor's degree. IOSH don't have any reiprocal arrangments with the SIA for membership but we do accredit a number of Australian Higher Education programmes. Give Denise Johnson our Education Advisor a call if you need any further information. Hazel Harvey Professional Affairs Director

Hi Jen, I am a Nebosh Diploma qualified Australian currently working in Brisbane. I work on a contract basis in the Oil/Gas Industry and have never had any problems with recognition of my Nebosh and membership of IOSH. In fact they have always been well received. If you do feel the necessity to go ahead with the CertIV then make sure you get recognition for your current competencies and qualifications from the course provider as it will reduce the amount of work you will need to do for the Certificate. All the best, Greg
