A colleague is attempting to put together a template for service accessibilty requirements, while I have found out most of the information from various sources including building regs I am having particular difficulty in finding specific dimensions for servicing / maintenance access requirements for electrical equipment, and additional requirments required as a result risk to exposure to particular hazards i.e protected hazardous live, unprotected hazardous live to the front, unprotected hazardous live to the front and back.

I have found some US legislation which states:

Work space about equipment. Sufficient space shall be provided and maintained about electric equipment to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. Where energized parts are exposed, the minimum clear work space may not be less than 1.98 m (6.5 ft) high (measured vertically from the floor or platform) or less than 914 mm (3.0 ft) wide (measured parallel to the equipment). The depth shall be as required in paragraph (h)(5)(i) of this section. In all cases, the work space shall be adequate to permit at least a 90-degree opening of doors or hinged panels.
1910.303(h)(4)
Entrance and access to work space.
1910.303(h)(4)(i)
At least one entrance not less than 610 mm (24 in.) wide and 1.98 m (6.5 ft) high shall be provided to give access to the working space about electric equipment.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any similar UK or European legislation?

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Reg 15 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires that "adequate working space, adequate means of access and adequate lighting shall be provided at all electrical equipment on which or near which work is being done in circumstances which may give rise to danger".

Some guidance is given in the Memorandum to the Regs HSR25 Appendix 3.

Download it from HSE website -http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/hsr25.pdf
