Depends on the size and nature of your organisation. We have a licence to use Datix Web-Risk Risk Manager, which is very good but very much focussed on Healthcare organisations. We can't use it yet though as our IT people have 'red-lighted' it.... John

Hopefully without appearing to be too flippant, I can't help but feel that the best (only) piece of software to Evaluate risk is sitting somewhere between your ears! Serioulsy though, I have no problem with some sort of recording software but risk assessment is, in the main a 'thought process' and I don't think that there is likely to be any truly effective software to take this on for you.

I have to say a) that's what I though and b) then I saw what Datix Risk Manager does. Good RM software doesn't take the thinking part away, but it does a number of things. First of all it can flag up a risk assessment associated with an incident (if like Datix it has an incidents module as well), which acn be an instant prompt for review. Second, it automates the review process and will prompt people until they do something about it. Third, and see the thread on Risk Registers, it will automatically generate a register from your assembled assessments, and allow people to interrogate the register to view the underlying assessments and the ibcidents linked to them. Fourth, if it's web-based you can get hold of your assessments wherever you can get an internet connection, even a single installation is helpful if it's networked on your server. Fifth, Datix in particular is very governance focussed, and requires assurances to be identified for every assessment, as well as controls and gaps in controls and assurances. In other words it forces a structured rational approach to RA. Sixth, it's simple and because it's software based everybody has to use the same format, not a nice new form they found off google. I'm a complete convert, and no, I don't work for Datix, and yes, other systems are available, John
