I am posting this topic as I have not been able to find a position since September 2009 and not through the lack of trying.I would also like to find out if anyone can use my services in employment and if needs be for me to keep myself active I would also be prepared to do some work for free if the need arises.I am based in Rugby but I would be prepared to travel anywhere for the chance to work.

I have added this information in addition to my post titled JOBS earlier. This is my career path thus far and my experience. I hope this will help in my finding a role. I have strong management skills and I have successfully managed staff in a variety of environments. In my previous roles I feel that I have been successful resulting in professional and personal satisfaction. I am ambitious in nature and relish a challenging environment. I also have a good sound knowledge of employment law and working with and alongside Human Resources Departments. I have a working knowledge of Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO14001, OHAS 18001). I have a ‘hands on’ approach with training and developing a good Health and Safety culture. EXPERIENCE: Jan 09 – Sept 09 Laing O’Rourke (Staythorpe Power Station) (Contract) Health and Safety Advisor • Responsibilities and achievements; • Construction of a new Combined Gas Turbine Power Station (CCGT) Value(£750 million).Works include site investigation, piled foundations, heavy reinforced concrete and structural steel construction, roadwork’s within the site, erection of major mechanical and electrical equipment e.g. the gas and steam turbines, heat recovery boilers, auxiliary systems plus associated infrastructure works prior to the installation of mechanical equipment and building services. • My responsibilities were to advise and educate where appropriate up to 700 workers on site. This covered all aspects of health and safety and occupational health. I was tasked with ensuring LOR were compliant at all times with CDM regulations. • In the time I have spent on this project I feel that I have improved the awareness of workers towards safety and also made contributions to reducing the amount of accidents on site. I have built a good working, professional relationship with the principal contractor and other sub contractors to ensure that cooperation between all parties is adhered to. July 08 – Dec 08 Universal Beverages (Contract) Health and Safety Advisor • Project 1st phase new cider process plant (Value £20 million) • New build RC construction, asbestos demolition, civil construction, M&E, Commissioning • Advising a Principal Contractor during Phase 1 of a new build cider process plant Duties were to ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety were adhered to at all times. The role, other than advising all project managers was to police all the project area’s ensuring that Principal Contractors and sub- contractors were working safely and complying with Health and Safety legislation and CDM Legislation. Prior to commencement of works, all risk assessments and method statements were vetted by me and any non-compliance or necessary adjustments were amended by myself. Regular meetings took place in order to ensure accurate information was collated in order to improve the Health and Safety culture on the sites. Jan 08 – April 08 InBev UK Ltd (Contract) Health and Safety Advisor • Multi-site projects at Magor and Glasgow (Value £10 million) • Removal of redundant plant and equipment, demolition, civil construction, commissioning Advising a project team at 2 breweries ensuring that Health and Safety compliance was maintained at all times. The projects were new build projects and were mainly in progress under CDM 2007 Regulations. The role, other than advising all project managers was to police all the project area’s ensuring that Principal Contractors and sub- contractors were working safely and complying with Health and Safety legislation and CDM Legislation. Regular site audits were undertaken with any shortfalls reported and suitable action required undertakenI am an extremely loyal and trustworthy employee. Daily tasks include issuing Safe Plans of Action and Site specific Work permits, Daily site inspections, tool box talks and safety meetings with other sub-contractors. Staff training and continuous development plans. Liaising with principal contractor in matters of construction ensuring CDM regulations are adhered to. May 07 - June07 OSTAS Ltd (Contract) Training Consultant • World Wide HSE approved training handler • Based predominantly within the UK depending upon individual company requirements • Course may vary from one to five days in addition delivering NEBOSH up to full diploma level Other aspects covered, SPA Passport courses, CGNSQ courses, Managing Safely, Risk Assessment, Safe Systems, DSE Assessments, Ergonomics Assessments, COSH assessments, Accident/ Near Miss Investigations, CDM Regulations and Manual Handling Assessments and Audits. August 06 - Jan 07 Walsh Western UK Ltd (Contract) Health and Safety Coordinator UK Warehouse, transport and fast moving manufacturing (I-Pod) contract covering Apple and Dell. Second site Tillburg, Holland. Responsibilities: • Writing Risk Assessments and safe systems of work. All work to comply with OHAS18001 audit standards in the UK and Holland. • Organizing and delivering site safety inductions for new employees and visitors to site. Also ensuring contractors on site were correctly controlled. • Implementing all new HSE legislation and standards. • Making weekly checks on Fire Alarms and Sprinkler systems, ensuring all log books were filled. • Liaising with relevant managers to identify ongoing training and development needs for all employees. • Weekly accident and near miss reporting • Working to ensure all environmental requirements were met and also all quality issues were met [working to Six Sigma guidelines]. • Chairing health and safety meetings ensuring all outstanding items communicated on were actioned and closed. Feb 01 - July 06 Rail Industry (Contract) Controller of Site Safety This was working on the West Coast Mainline project looking after sections of work including OHLE, P.Way, Signalling and various infrastructure maintenance. During the possession I was responsible for all staff which was between 15 – 50 depending on the work carried out as well as all road rail plant required. Responsibilities: • Ensuring all staff were protected at all times, Red Zone or Green Zone Work. • Work was carried out exactly as planned in the method statements. • Checking all employees had been issued with all correct P.P.E. • Brief employees on how to reach the place of work and what to do in the case of an emergency. • Checking that all employees had recognized and up to date certification to be on track and to use necessary equipment. • Have tool box briefs and hot work permits if required. • Complying with all environmental requirements. • Canceling planned work if conditions were too dangerous to start or continue work, informing relevant people of the decision and why. • Communicating with on site staff and other people off site regularly to ensure rigid safety at all times.
