Verukas are going to be the big problem here but spare a thought for the incremental lack of slip resistance as his tootsies get clogged with dust. Of course, this wouldn't be an issue if his feet are really, really sweaty.

Not in the office I hope! I know it is Friday but have some decorum! Seriously though playing sport is entirely up to the player and if he wants to play barefoot he takes the risk. In volenti non fit injuria.

From memory recent research suggests that you are better running barefoot than in trainers. Sounds like a crazy idea to me, but I guess it didnt do Zola Budd any harm. Personall I wouldnt fancy running through the streets or parks near me barefoot, sounds painful and dirty to me.

Phew! TGI Friday already! You won't catch me playing badminton barefoot......My footwear is connected to my trousers! (scratch that...you won't catch me playing baminton at all!) Seriously 'though, we weren't born with shoes on and we didn't evolve with shoes on either. Have we evolved past the ability to go barefoot?

If the colleague has beautiful feet then thats ok, but if they have trotters buy them some safety footwear ;)

Replying to an earlier post, they say that running barefoot has anatomical benefits (though very harsh on the skin!!) as it is believed that trainers make people run differently, especially the more cushioned they get. In particular it is believed that trainers make people more likely to heel strike (which is bad). Barefoot badmington? Why not!!

If the player does it often then why not? Verrucas and athletes foot - yes a problem? Smelly feet another issue. Otherwise just let it go. It's cheaper than buying trainers.

I thought the whole thing about passing on verrucas from floor srfaces was now considered to be inaccurate?

Hmm, my personal feel is this should be avoided at all costs, unless playing on the beach when of course barefoot and wearing speedos is de rigeur. However it does admit of a simple solution. Put his partner in golf shoes/ running spikes/ crampons and he will be wearing footwear again like the normal people before the game is out.

I'm a barefoot girl myself! I used to do karate, obviously in bare feet, found it a lot more comfortable and started running (on a track), boxing and playing tennis in bare feet! I found myself to have a firmer control and fell less when in bare feet. Horses for courses.
