Hi folks - does anyone have any classic examples where a safety intervention by somebody has led to a major reduction of risk, saving of lives or change in policy / procedure that has had profound affects on the way we do things they would like to share?
I am trying to show my team some of the benefits resulting in in safety interventions and can relate to some I have done, but would like a really good example they can all relate to.
Thanks
David

Personally I like the story about the bridge engineer and the construction of the Golden Gate bridge. Google Joseph B. Strauss and you'll find out what he done.

How about Lord Nugent who finally got compulsory seatbelt legislation into law in 1981? Others had tried before and had failed including Nugent. Nice, as when he got it approved he was then president of RoSPA.

Always a good one, driving and seat belts, as this can lead discussion towards safety behaviours in the same context; the impact airbags, crumple zones, abs and the use of mobile phones, sat nav and the like whilst driving.
