Val The best way to get to know the proper way of using a full body harness is to attend a course in the use of harnesses. Hire companies deliver these courses, they are not expensive and you get first hand knowledge of the use of the harnesses. I did my training through Speedy Hire. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place that is not subject to direct heat or sunlight. Ensure that no excessive strain, pressure, heat or humidity is exposed to the equipment. Wet or damp equipment should be allowed to dry naturally. Regards, Jim

Usually, you can get some guidance from the hire company, manufacturer or their PPE seller (okay, sales rep) and need to persuade them to issue a cert or letter as proof youve been trained (okay, made aware). Its been about 4 years since I use d to 'play' with these daily but thats where I got my info. Also, some IOSH branch meets have awareness days from good public spirited companies who offer this to its members at branch meets. Hang them up, in cool place out of 'direct' sunlight (cupboard) and keep records of inspections. I cant remember who but someone suggested replace every year.....aint ever seen that in any companies Ive worked with. As for keeping them clean; its a case of scrubbing brush adn soap (yes I know, chemical contamination and all that) but if you know what you ar elooking for, you can only do your best to keep them clean as the flippin wearer never seems to (Despite the small fact their life depends on it).
