I am currently employed in the northern isles as a HSEQ Compliance Manager in the maritime industry. I manage / develop a 9001/14001 /H & S system and now attempting OHSAS 18001. Quals include: NGC, PGc in Safety and Risk Management, Internal Auditor 9001, Internal Auditor 14001, IOSH Trainer in MS and WS and have just attained Grad IOSH status. Now looking at Lead Auditor 18001 and Nebosh Environmental cert/Dip, IPD just about to start for CMIOSH during 2011/12.

The point is, I will probably need to move to Inverness due to partner relocation end 2010 but never seem to see any vacancies for HSEQ or similar in this area.

Should I be worried and stay up in the chilly north put for the time being?

There seems to be a problem with outlook on my PC so cannot contact the IOSH Inverness Branch at this time.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Gary

Hi Gary - one of the biggest employers in the Highlands is stationed in Inverness - they deal with healthy lives and health scans??

Not sure if I can name the company here.

Cheers for the leads sent guys. Time to learn how to write a CV - how exactly does one convey their excellence in 1 x A4!

In twenty five years I have never used a CV to sucessfully gain employment - yet I have never been unemployed?

Answers on a post card please!

Holly crud; the A4 sheet will be your quals you mentioned alone, us young kids will never stand a chance against that list. Remember to save a space or paragraph for job details ho ho

Best bet is be patient and contact the inverness IOSH group (North of Scotland) and even try to go visit some of their meets. There is quite a few employment agencies there/aberdeen so best do homework as like everyone else, there are pockets of unemployment.

Hope it all works out.
