Does anyone have information on risks for people who work with induction furnaces and who have metal implants ie plates or screws. I have heard there is the potential for these to heat up and loosen. Is there any evidence out there to confirm this.

I ran 2x 3.5mW induction melters for several years and one of the furnacemen had a steel implant in his leg. He had no problems what so ever. You will find that if the furnace is constructed and maintained properly, the faraday cage will provide protection.
I am not sure about implants such as pacemakers and further advice should be taken on the individual cases
