Is there a transcript available of Lord Young's speech at the IOSH 10 conference? I have read the SHP report at http://www.shponline.co....d=9877&viewcomment=1 and the subsequent comments which have been posted. I would however be interested to know what he actually said rather than reading a report from a journalist summarising what he said. This should be of considerable interest to many given that there is a possibility that we could have a change of government in just a few weeks time. Can IOSH please provide. Al

According to a post in the members forum back in January the answer is no. Summary papers will be available but not transcripts.
Considering that HSE have managed to make available a transcript of Judith Hackett's speech on their website already, perhaps IOSH could tell us when we might expect to see anything?

Dear Members,
As promised, we'll be making the summary papers for all the presentations available shortly on the conference website.
As for Lord Young's speech, we'll be in touch with his office today to confirm whether he's happy for us to make the full text of his speech available to all our members. We did get a copy of the speech the night before conference, but it's not quite the same as the speech he delivered on the day. So I'd like to clarify if we can get a copy of the final version, or if he's happy for us to publish the draft we have. The differences were quite significant.
HSE are able to publish Judith Hackitt's speech, since she speaks for HSE, and she and her team will have written her speech. And that's obviously not the case for IOSH and Lord Young.
I hope we'll be able to clarify and come back to you later today, or sometime tomorrow - depending on Lord Young's office.
yours, Ruth

Thanks Ruth - I appreciate the difficulty and look forward to seeing the summary papers at least.

Ruth Thanks. If it could be published I am sure it would be of considerable interest to many practitioners who were unable to attend IOSH10. If there is a change of government in a few weeks time, we might see quite a shift in the health and safety regulatory landscape in the UK. While journalists might try to summarise accurately what was said, there is no substitute for the actual words as we saw with David Cameron's health and safety speech in December last year at the Policy Exchange. I interviewed Lord Young at IOSH10 for the IOSHchannel (http://www.youtube.com/ioshchannel) and he summarised the points he made in his keynote. This interview will be on the channel soon - we'll highlight this with a member news item as soon as you can watch it.
