If any item is sold for use in the EU, then it must be marked with the CE mark to show it conforms with minimum European standards. The Kite mark is simply a mark of to show higher Quality, not a minimum standard.

The statement "If any item is sold for use in the EU, then it must be marked with the CE mark to show it conforms with minimum European standards." is entirely incorrect. Safety knives are not covered by any of the "new approach" Directives. More info on the new approach Directives at:
http://ec.europa.eu/ente...guide/guidepublic_en.pdf
The Kitemark is a registered mark of the BSI. If there is no relevant standard to test and approve it against, then it cannot be "kitemarked".

Have you really put the end of your little finger onto the blade? Ouch :-)
