Question for the experts here. If a trainer was delivering a training course to a group a learners, whom he did not have any info on except their mobile (cell) phone. Would it be a good idea to ask for next of kin info, in case someone got seriously ill. The given mobile phone mumber would be no use as the learner would possibly have the phone with him/her, and it would be switched off if at a course.
Just wondering what you think, or do you think it is unnecessary. The learners would be mainly from the construction industry.

Hi
The trainer should have a list of everybodies employers contact details. Then the training company would then be able to contact next of kin on their behalf. :) Simples Or you could ask them to provide details at the beginning of the course.

How dangerous is this training? If it's classroom based then I suggest that it's an OTT measure. Their employers will have the info and in my opinion that should suffice. If workplace based then ditto.
Are these young people? If so then different considerations apply.

Are these young people? If so then different considerations apply. The training is indeed classroom based, and there is not much exertion for the learners, some drivers may appear to be overweight. Learners would be mostly self employed construction workers, and it would normally be held on saturday, so even if they had an employer, chances are the employer would not be contactable. Some may be unemployed I was thinking if someone got very ill,, it may be handy to be able to contact the next of kin. Just a thought !!!! Your views.

I'm not convinced you need the attendee private details - I wouldn't give mine? What's wrong with having the employees details to contact them.
If they haven't already done it, suggest they enter an ICE number in their mobiles. Then you've got belt & braces.

I work in the oil industry and we work closely with all the different authorities including Police. The Police will not do alert anyone unless they are absolutely certain before they have the right person - especially next of kin - so tread carefully.
If at a training centre, the training company should contact the company of the employee and let them deal contacting relatives etc.
I personally think in this case getting NOK details is unneccesary.
