Dear All,
Please advise if you can:
Regulation 10 of CoSHH requires that once a potential exposure risk has been identified that monitoring be performed, now assuming that there are no chemicals that fall into Appendices 1, 2 or 3 of the CoSHH regs present, what would be an appropriate interval for repeat monitoring as per Reg 10 (3)???
Regards,
M.

That will depend on many things: the initial results, the level of risk you identify, whether changes have happened that may affect the exposure, and so on. I've come across a system where the frequency is annually, two yearly or less depending on the assessment.

Thanks Kate,
I suspected the answer would probably be based on risk assessment. However, I wondering whether there was something I might be unaware of e.g. industry guidence; industrial hygienists guidance etc.

If you are looking for occupational hygiene guidance, why not get in touch with the British Occupational Hygiene Society. Just google BOHS and this will take you to their website. -

See BS EN 689 - this will give you guidance on frequency of retesting.
