Davies-Shuck36313, The generator needs to be installed & used in accordance with EAWR89 & PUWER98 etc. every time it is used. EAWR89 will suggest compliance with BS7671 (Currently 2008, Amd 1 due in the next couple of years). The person setting up the generator should be competent to do so & undertake any required testing. At the end of the day you are creating a new electrical installation each time you set this up. This subject does come up quite often in discussions between electricians & electrical engineers as it is not cut & dried! I would require that the RCD is tested on every use via its own test mechanism and the tripping characteristics tested according to PAT requirements for its intended use, which could be as often as 3 monthly.
