What's next when you've completed your Diploma or NVQ (which ever route you take). MSc occupational safety & health? Not sure what the different options are so any thoughts would be great.

Hi Ian, Thanks for that, it's a useful link! What's essentially the difference between a PgC, a PgD and MSc etc? Also, and sorry for the dumb question, is there a choice of H&S subjects or is it like the Nebosh route, Diploma in H&S management etc?

I should also add, if you've done the NVQ 4 / Diploma through the NEBOSH route is the PgC / D & MSc duplicate or a level on?

Sorry, ignore two questions above, have just gone on to Portsmouth's website and it's all on there! There's a range of different H&S topics though isn't there?

The usual progression but everyone is different; is something like, vocational cert (NEBOSH etc) - Vocational Diploma (NEBOSH etc) or NVQ 4 - Head down chartered route with IOSH - If you want to continue the academic side - Post Grad Cert, Post Grad Diploma and Finally Msc.... (pick up various industry specific bits along the way) Hope this helps.... Rgs

The difference between PgC, a PgD and MSc is basically how far into the qualification you go. So after a set amount of modules, you reach the level where you could stop and be awarded the PgC, then on completion of all modules you are at PgD level. To get to MSc, you have to complete a thesis based on a relevant subject matter. As for a choice of H&S subjects, without looking specifically at the content of the various academic qualifications available, I would imagine they will all cover a similar set of core modules and there may be a few alternatives thrown in there. There's a link somewhere on the IOSH site that identifies the universities who offer IOSH approved undergrad / postgrad quals (sorry I can't find it, but it is there somewhere!). You should be able to get onto each uni's site and have a look at the modules that make up their qualifications.
