I have a stock of cadmium plated washers. Are there any restrictions on disposal, or can I bin them?

Not an authorative one, but if they're plated, then the cadmium is not likely to become a leachate, and won't trouble the atmosphere unless you try to burn them. I don't see a problem. Good quality scrap metal , in the same way that chrome, nickel or zinc-plated items are? Unless you're in Sweden of course. I remember working on defence contracts yonks ago, and they wouldn't accept anything cadmium plated!
