I have a question regarding co-operation between a venue for public events and the event itself.
a current situation is, that the building belongs to the venue and they 'hire' it out to events such as pop concerts. when the 'event' takes over the building the area are handed across to them and the 'venue' admonishes themselves of resposnibility for the control of what happens in the area's that have been handed over.
Having said that the 'Venue' still provides services int h for of energy etc, maintenance and repairs to the event and to the building.
From experience it seems that the 'event' do not follow H&S in anywhere near the manner hat the 'venue' do and there are a considerable number of incidents that breach current rules, acops etc.

My feeling is that it should be treated as co-operation and that the 'event; should be more H & S concious, and if not the 'venue' should be advising them of breaches taht are seen or known about.

Is anyone able to comment on this one? I need toput my mind at rest before I go off in potentially the wrong direction.

Not really my area, or many others by the lack of replies to this. But here goes.

If I had venue that I hired out I would deal with the HS&Fire of the property, equipment, and welfare facilities. Then I would have a solicitor draw up a contract that I would use for hiring the venue out.

The venue owner would be responsible for ensuring that the venue was suitable for the type of event, agreeing the number and type of attendees eg disabled, children etc.

Co-operation. communciation and planning between is key to this. We recently hired a riding venue at a college to host a show and we had several meetings and pre-visits to their facilities and then provided them with our risk assessment for the event we were putting on. A venue representative was also present when we set up. If we, as the event organisers were not satisfied with the facilities we would have looked for another venue and I suggest vice-versa from the venue owners.
