can anybody point me towards good reasearch re epilepsy [caused mainly by light] and solutions to problems
The situation is a public gymnasium that uses flashing lighting systems connected to pop music as part of training programs where 99.9% of the public want it that way [the company undertook surveys before spending £ and only spent after they were convinced that what was proposed was what was wanted by the gym users]. Now a very few members of the public who have recently joined the gym have reported that they suffer from epilepsy and use of the gym whilst the lighting and loud noise is present is causing them problems
The point here is that the ambience created is what is the driver for people joining the classes and what is a reasonable adjustment as lights and noise off = people will stop going to the sessions

I certainly think that if it is not already so - it should be clearly detailed in your membership documents and information that your programmes include light effects and sound which may cause problems for some susceptible users. They don't ban TV transmissions etc. because of this do they? - they just give a warning.

But then Tv doesn't really on members joining to keep them going. If members quit because of the flashing lights then it's an issue that needs addressing.
Not sure why a gym would need flashing lights is it getting that hard to get members they have to come up with gimmicks LOL.
Could you not look at switching the flashing lights off if a member is epileptic or is likely to suffer from the flashing lights i wouldn't have thought it would be a major issue or likely to effect to many classes. maybe they could buy a smoke machine instead Lol
