After running my own customer service business for 15 years, I worked for a London based housing association in various roles for five years. I then became their Health and Safety Officer. They wanted someone who had housing scheme experience. Someone they could nurture, and who could become qualified and grow into the job under the mentorship of the company secretary and the Group Health and Safety Advisor. I gained my NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, together with other appropriate qualifications. I was responsible for 70 supported housing schemes, several offices and a couple of thousand social housing properties. Unfortunately after 17 months in the role, I was made redundant, and my dept. was disbanded in a "restructuring".

Following this, I gained a position with a large Facilities Management company, working on their contract with a Large Financial institution. I was responsible for the 2500 employees in their head offices in the City of London. My employer lost their contract with this company, and after 13 months I was once again made redundant.
I would like to continue with my Health and Safety career, and build upon my qualifications and experience. I live in Kent, and therefore I am looking for job roles in the South East of England and London.

I have extensive experience of working in customer orientated environments, and the knowledge to be-able to communicate in a colloquial, but pragmatic and informed way. I have strong and persuasive written and verbal communication skills; the capacity to build good working relationships with colleagues, customers, and outside agencies. Good time management has enabled me to carry out my duties, and work in an unsupervised way to achieve my goals.
I believe that a good attitude to, and awareness of Health and Safety should be an important part of the professionalism of every employee. It is not a separate issue. This, together with my knowledge of legislation, and my previous experience, has helped me to promote and establish good working practices, and to build a good Health and Safety culture in the workplace.
