A quote from the end of Boris Johnson's article in the DT on why England came a cropper: "but it's more fundamental than that. We are still paying the price of an educational establishment that developed an aversion to competitive games and an obsession with bureaucracy and elf and safety that made it hard for the voluntary sector to fill the gap"

Aah! So we are to blame for the England losing; it had to happen sooner or later! Even David Blaine is cheesed off with the England team; he used to hold the endurance record for hanging around in a box doing nothing but Rooney has that now!

Not sure that this joke really works unless the person answering the door knows what to say!

If you are looking for someone to blame forget it. The country will get over it and be back to work (if you have a job) the next days with all the tears wiped away and go and blame the manager, or the players, or the ball or the pitch or any other reason why a prro England team were beaten by a better organised Germany who seemed to want to win that much more than England. Go home and start again thats what I say, anyway that is better than living off the win in 1966.

M: Aye, you need to do it with someone who's in on the gag. Bob: A World Cup win would perhaps have been useful to Messrs Cameron & Clegg. It was certainly useful to Harold Wilson as a diversion, allowing him to perpetuate MacMillan's slogan "you've never had it so good" despite the economic woes of the times. Mind you, we had the Beatles then as well.............

Fabio Capello has said that the reason England were knocked out by Germany was because the players were tired......... Cant blame them really, staying inn a 5 star hotel, top grub, etc etc etc Mabye the over paid England players before they moan about being tired etc should think about the Soliders in Afganistan who are putting 16 - 20 hours days seven days a week for six months at a time, living in cramped conditions, poor food, and the threat of being blown up every time they go on patrol, oh forgot that they dont see there families while on tour, They should hang thier heads in shame. Rant over

Now you've had your fun we wouldn't want to be accused of inconsistency. I'm afraid FR 1 applies here - Topic locked.
