Hi all,
are there any regs as to how close a desk is to a printer?
i know there are for photocopiers, but im unsure if printers are a hazard?

Sean, I think your barking up the wrong tree. Having spoke to numerous colleagues none of us are aware of any statutory provisions in relation to photocopiers.
I think you need to ask the question with a more concise objective, without the photocopier bit. I don’t think you will get the information you are really after.
Feel free to PM me if you need help with assessing the issue in relation to working within close proximity to printers, I'll try and help you.

Hi,
Don't know of any specific regs for either photocopier or printer. There is an interesting article that was published a few years ago see:

But I think some aspects of it have been refuted. I have known staff who suffer from asthma to be affected by empty toner cartriges from both printers and photocopiers so good idea to seal them up and store sensibly. I guess it all depends on the type of printer, amount of usage, size of room, no. of staff in room etc. I would ask the manufacturer for advice, it may say something in the handbook.
