And so it begins: http://yourfreedom.hmg.gov.uk/@@search?Subject=healthandsafety No such 'law' of course. NRASWA. Chapter 8 etc. Correct signage to be applied only where there is a signficant restriction to the pedestrian route.

Neither does mine - yet another fault on the website I think. If anyone wants to see the article Ron is talking about, cut and paste the whole of the link, including the "@@search?Subject=healthandsafety" bit onto your website browser - then you should get it

Thanks for the link. Site seems very slow. Hopefully there will be one or two reasonable suggestions mixed in with a predicted flood of silliness.

Quite possibly the slowest, least user friendly site I have visited in the past 10 years.

Quite possibly the slowest, least user-friendly Government we've had in the last 10 years.

I know, I know, lets get all the people who can't or won't interpret sensible health and safety onto one easy to manage website, consolidating all the views into one single view. Don't mention the bad spelling though, they won't like that. In introducing this website its demonstrates clearly the Tories opinion. Get the teaboy to front it. If it goes wrong we blame him. If it goes right, wahay! They are also saving madcap journos loads of time as all they need to do now is visit this site and cherry pick all the 'good' stories and keeping whipping their readers into that there frenzy. Won't criminals suggest that all laws are unnecessary? Your Freedom indeed... *Pedants are invited to nit pick my own punctuation mistakes, but I stand by the spelling comment.

..i dont mind most of the "blame it on the elf n safety" crowd it actually brightens my day to know that these morons have a job. I would rather the "Government" got off the subject of elfnsafety... (cause between them ALL they have screwed the country up ) and got on with reducing the Counties deficit..sorted the NHS ...The welfare system...Fighting other peoples wars...Immigration..and the Education system...then thats where will ambush them and educate them with elfnsafety (it doesnt have to be in that order)

I've had a quick look at the "your freedom" site. From what I can see as of 11am on 2 July 2010 about 3200 ideas have been registered. A search of "health safety" comes up with 23. That is less than 1%. I don't think this initiative is being targeted specifically at health and safety - far from it in fact.

I agree with Ron. The poster of this idea had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and is likely to be a site manager recently hit for inadequate signage on the road during works. These ought to be comp[lained about but I do not have the go to register and do so. The rest of the posters seem of the same ilk!!!! Bob

Andybz - up to 66 generally very ill informed H&S threads when I looked. There's the one alleging that the National Trust have to assess every tree in its land portfolio, when after a tragic accident well off the beaten path, not only did HSE not prosecute but the civil claim failed. It would appear that some people believe what they read in the Daily Mail etc? P

Numbers of comments is going up all the time, but still a very low proportion are related to H&S. And I totally agree many of the H&S comments are very ill informed. The fact that the proportion is low suggests to me that the UK population may not be as concerned about H&S laws as we sometimes think. Whether you agree with the idea or not, I think it is at least an attempt to find out what the general population think about government. I've no idea how successful it will be, or even what success would look like.
