Hi All,
I have just had my first stage audit for 18001 and one of the non conformances was the evaluation of compliance, we have a legislation register however that was not enough. Does anyone have anything that can point me in the right direction,
Thanks in advance,
Colin

There have been numerous threads on this subject - it is a misunderstood clause. You need to provide a procedure that identifies how you can demonstrate ongoing compliance.

This can be covered by carrying out a compliance audit. Perhaps listing all legislation defined as relevant by your oganisation as the audit criteria and auditing whether your workplace/organisation is compliant with this legislation. This can be carried out periodically, some organisations may include this as part of their internal audit procedure.
The procedure for evaluating compliance does not have to be a documented procedure. Evidence and records of the compliance audits would be sufficient if done properly.
Your legal register will form part of your evidence to compliance with clause 4.3.2, however evaluating compliance is required by clause 4.5.2.1
