Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, guest speaker, that can speak with some conviction on a safety related , or human performance subject? Possibly with some experiences that can be shown on a DVD presentation. This is to an audience of Construction trades, that need to be re-energised to keep their focus.(We dont want the same ones that have been doing the circuits for some time, no sleight on them, just that most of our workforce have seen them before).
Thanks TonyG

Check out a group called "JMJ". I have experienced their product and they are much more than just a group of guest speakers. They can provide a whole package. I don't work for them btw but I did work on a construction project where they wwere employed to energise the safety programme. Hope I'm not stepping into murky moderator infested waters here...
If you want to know more I can oblige. I'd imagine they are expensive but perhaps they can tailor a package that suits?

A good presentation i saw was by Frank Carrano who talked about the accident he had suffered on a construction site and the effect it had on his family and friends. Guaranteed to get the message home. You can find details on his website at http://www.accident-awareness.co.uk/

I remember seeing Ken Woodward, who talked about his accident and it hit hard, but not sure of his details

Ken Woodward was very good when I saw him - if you search for his name, his homepage should come up.

If you're interested I don't mind giving a chat (I don't charge - just expenses and an overnight) on construction in hostile environments? I have a video put together from visits to Iraq which I have used in previous lectures. (You can check me out on IOSH YouTube for a very short brief on some of my areas of expertise). Cheers Rob

Thanks all, as an International Company we have an in house theme of Focus To Zero, and Management are well and truly involved thanks (BoB Youel) , all I want is a presentation from someone that has first hand experience, of an accident at work, and has the ability to relate to an audience. I have my own experience having broken a femur in Saudi Arabia when working for a large well repected Petro Chem Company that did nothing more than give me six weeks pay...thats another story. However I do not want to be using myself as an example at the moment, I do however relate to it when people ask me how I got into "Safety". So will keep looking for the moment.
Thanks again

Frank Carrano is probably a good option for you then. His accident was pretty horrendous and he not only looks at the effect it had on him, but on his colleagues and family too. Haven't seen any others but worth a look if you haven't already done so. The fact that I saw this guy's presentation about a year ago but could still remember virtually all of the details suggest it was a good presentation. Especially when I struggle to remember my own name half the time.

TonyG,
try the guy Paul Burns, he does talks on accident prevention as he has been in
a work place incident where he has had his leg literally burnt off and amazingly rebuilt
by surgeons. His presentation is certainly an eye opener & a make you not only think
but act on safety, changing both behaviour & attitudes towards H&S of all who attend
his talks.

Bearing in mind your requirements, you may find the following link useful:
www.jenniferdeeney.co.uk
The story she tells and how she communicates it has a profound impact on the way people think about workplace safety.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
