I have a BSC Chemistry degree, worked in quality control involving food safety and hygiene by following haccap system for a food company after 2 years 6 months, I moved on to work for a big company as an occupational hygienist, covered all aspects of health and safety and also hold the NEBOSH level 3 certificate. I was made redundant after 2 years. Can anyone let me know what level of IOSH membership I can attain as I am desperate to get a job in health and safety and continue my personal devolpment?

Sharif, you can join IOSH (as anyone can) as an affililate member. Then submit your cv and qualifications to the membership department at the address at the bottom right hand side of the page and they will advise you after examining all the evidence you have submitted, as to what level you will be admitted to IOSH and then continue your path from there to progress through the different levels until you hopefully achieve chartered status.

Sharif - I agree with Ciarans advice. Like you I have a degree in Chemistry, have worked in the food industry, spent many years with a big chemistry company involved in occupational hygiene/environmental monitoring and now safety advisor in the Nuclear industry. Just keep talking to people about safety and learning all you can. Despite all the frustrations, a career in heath and safety can be a fantastic - so keep plugging away and I wish you every success.

Hi Sharif
Not sure that this is the place to say it but...
Are you member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, when I was in your boat they provided a great service, setting me up with a very helpful careers advisor who assisted me with Chemistry related health and safety stuff, networking, CV advice and even found me a work experience placement.
IOSH may be able to offer similar but I struggled to get advice and support from them.
That said my first break into Health and Safety came from these forums! It's worth a post...
