I work in an environment where to put in politely some of the employees are not the brightest, it seems a common theme for elastic band fights to break out in the office amongst grown men. I have advised them of the associated hazards of firing elastic bands, how sad is that, that they need telling. I've seen better behaved school children. Anyhow does anyone have any articles, eye injury pictures that I could have as I’m going to try and shock them into stop acting like they do, I have advised them they may well end up seriously injuring someone. Before anyone asks, yes I have raised it with higher management. The actual people flicking elastic bands are actually operation managers.

A quick look at the article and it tells me the 12 year old was using the elastic bands to launch pieces of carboard. Are your staff flicking rubber bands at each other or using them to launch projectiles? The outcome could be very different! I'm not condoning horseplay but it does have to be put in to perspective.

I put the link up to assist Sean but Brijja, once you have raised it with senior management and get the SMT to send them a communication outlining the company position what more can you do? You haven't said what the SMT reaction was? If they are supportive, end of story. It becomes a HR issue then. If not, you have a paper trail to show you have raised the issue if an injury/incident occurs.

Cheers Ciaran, dont know what went wrong there?? Brijja, keep a record of what you have done to stop this stupidity, and then ignore it, otherwise it will drive you up the wall, and your fellow workmates will not take any notice of you at all afterwards.

Alan Haynes. You are a legend. How the hell did you find this? Hurt myself laughing. My 10 year old nephew wants to build one for school.

The replies on to this post are rather “witty”, some might think, I think I’ll forward them to my mate Lee. Lee only has one eye – guess how he lost the other?

if you feel that is going to assist your mate, Lee in dealing with the incident, that is entirely your perogative.
