The google tool bar has a spell check button that can be used not just for this forum but any web writing.

if you use firefox (same as internet explorer) it has a spell checker built in. and works on any website/ forum. otherwise my postings would be illegible.

The trouble is quite a few of us are definately NOT allowed google et al and still would prefer to have an up chucker within the forum despite previous moderators comments.

I have a spell checker that works with all applications; electronic, printed and hand written; is portable, uses English English (not US) and can be relied on at any time. Except late on a Friday night after a couple of hours in the de-briefing suite. - Smug or wot? (Ooops)

I hink has been debated before and the reason why we don't have one answered by the web team.
I have fallen foul of 'fat finger' sydrome as well, so if I am doing a long response I type it in a word processor, spell check it and then copy paste. Also comes in handy when the site cuts you off after 15 mins.

When the forum survey comes out, remember to raise with Ruthie.

Beware the spell checker
I wrote an email this afternoon re fire risk assessment and used the term (rrfso) as I have written it here.
My email spell checker suggested I change that to (ruffs), I did see it but pushed the wrong button and it went changed to ruffs.
Having realised the error I quickly altered the sent email and forwarded it with a brief explanation and asked for the receiver to use the corrected version when he forwarded that email to his client.
Guess what?
Yes he sent the original. I'm now hoping that no one will notice.

I'll follow up with her on Monday. She's leaving at the end of the month for pastures new.

How is it that they can implement a swear checker but cannot manage to provide spill chucker?!!!

Shows the priorities when they were setting up the forum. I would love to see the consultation process that was engaged in.

There was a period of beta testing before the forum went live. I think every single one of us involved asked for a spill chucker and an edit function. We're still waiting.
Unfortunately as some of the forum functionality wasn't working during the beta test phase we weren't aware that the "remember me" function didn't work and we weren't aware of the "log you out after 15 mins" nonsense either so neither were raised.
The answer to why we don't have any of this is:
1. It wasn't in the original spec.
2. There are other priorities. Though I'm not sure what these are almost ten months after the forum went live!
