No matter what word/words I put in search - no response. Is there a knack I need, like a kick in a specific place?

Geoff, I too find the search function ineffective. No matter what I put in, I get no results. Searching for my own posts using my own name, the search tells me that I must use 5 characters minimum for a search. Maybe Im doing summit wrong.....

Got that! OK if I put my own name in. But I want to search Waste, or Waste Transfer, or Waste Disposal?

The search function here has two input boxes, the first (top) is to enable a serach for the person that posted (why this is useful is beyond me), the second (bottom) enable a search by subject matter. There is text to the far left of the boxes that tells you that, but it's far from clear at first glance.

The problem with the search isn't where to type the search term - it's that nothing comes back (even when it definitely should).

Max is right, when doing a search go for the lower of the two boxes. The upper box just searches on post subject lines

Something i find useful for more specific forum searches is using Google advanced search Click on the advanced search to the right of the input box on Google's home page Type your requested search in the top box and then enter forums.iosh.co.uk in the bottom box. It works pretty well if you are struggling :)

Thankyou Steelej, that's what I'll do in future.

Why should we have to do that? All I want is a simple search forum that works on a topic. We use to have one and I'm sure IOSH want to improve the service - not to go out to google to get what should already be on the board.

Geoff, Something has definitely changed and I tried the other day and after 10 minutes, no search result, page wouldn't close for me and I had to shutdown and reboot my laptop. Ciaran

I'm thinking of opening a sweepstake to see how long it takes any of these forum issues to be resolved. Anyone fancy a flutter :-)

Hi, Brilliant Steelij - as good as the old forum search facility, need to type forum not forums though. Cheers Steve

Grim72; money down the drain - so in the words of the 'Dragons' - 'I'm out' I'm afraid' maybe the powers that be are hoping that we all get fed up with complaining and go away?!

I gave up using the search form some while back - I thought it was because I'm a Luddite! Really, the changes from the previous forum are pants and someone should be working very hard to resolve these issues. After all, it is the best part of a year now.
