Looking to establish if there is a standard/protocol for demarcation of pedestrian walkways around a workshop.
I'm famialiar with BS5499 and the colours for manadatory (blue) and safe (green) conditions and that these are sometimes utilised as the colour of a pedestrian routes depending on whether they are means of escape, etc. I also know that the standard also prescribes the use of the yellow/black 45 deg lines around hazards/obstacles. However, I'm not aware of a particular standard/protocol governing the actual marking of routes.
Had a look at HSE's 'WPT' series of guidance but can't see anything specific.
Any advice appreciated.

I'm not aware of any standard or guidance, but it's usual to make them yellow.

I presume you saw http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/wpt16.pdf - Pedestrians - thought this is more related to segregation of people from traffic, I dont know if you have FLT's in your work shop, does provide general guidance though.

Also try the Workplace regs and the Health and Safety [Safety Signs and Signals] regs
