IMPORTANT INFORMATION for members regarding RIDDOR reporting!

G'day,
As you are probably aware, the RIDDOR e-mail address changed some 9 months ago from riddor@natbrit.com to riddor@connaught.plc.uk
This wouldn't have caused problems for most of you, UNLESS you use accident reporting software. I use such software and if the accident is reportable the software automatically sends an email to RIDDOR for me.
I rang the reporting centre today to alter details to a previously submitted F2508 only to find they had no record of the accident being reported. Obviously (being a sad HS bod), I had kept the confirmation e-mail as evidence but on closer inspection I noticed this had been incorrectly sent the the old RIDDOR e-mail.
This is quite disappointing considering the amount of money we pay this 'reputable' saftey consultancy and I will be making a stern phone call to the 'cronies' ;-)
If you too use automatic accident reporting software, check your F2508's are being emailed to the correct email address as ones sent to the old one are no longer being processed.
You don't want it to come back and haunt you in the future and get accused of failing to report. I'm glad I've not reported many in the last 9 months.....
Best Regards,
Ian

Thanks Ian; seems strange to me that the organisation has not had some sort of filter system to forward on emails that have been sent to the 'old' address, or that you do not get some form of automated reply telling you that the 'old' address is now defunct. Seems very poor to me given the potential severity of non reporting? PS Spill choker is grate!

Does doesn't it? I guess that, like most changes in e-mail address, they will only be filtered for a certain amount of time.
When I spoke to RIDDOR they said they had no record of the accident being reported but they were able to retrieve the email from the 'old' email address.
You'd think they'd set up a mail forward or automated error reply wouldn't you? Unless they have and my accident reporting system doesn't pass this on to me.
Think i'll send an email to riddor@natbrit.com as a test.....!!

Ha! You can imagine it now;
"I'm sorry 999 is no longer available. Please re-dial 888, or if you are not seriously injured and don't wish to waste our time please dial 111".
Incidentally, I haven't received an autmoated error reply from riddor@natbrit.com.....

Morning,
Didn't you find it strange that you didn't receive an e-mail confirmation of your report number from the HSE and then later a posted copy of your report with the report number?
Take Care
