I am currently looking any type of Health and Safety position in the North West of England. I currently have almost nine years experience at management level, managing large teams of people at multi sites in a process/production environment. I have successfully attained the NEBS (NVQ Level4) Certificate in Management, IOSH Certificate in Managing Safety and the NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety. I have a great deal of health and safety/environmental experience and feel that I have helped my recent employer to develop a sound health and safety culture with a first rate health and safety management system in place. A large part of my role involved producing method statements, safe systems of work, carrying out safety site audits and contractor control, as well as reporting to the company director on a quarterly basis and offering health and safety advice as and when required. My previous employer was awarded the ISO 14001 accreditation in December 2008. I was a key component in the implementation team. Through ISO 14001, I was given the responsibility of managing all our site waste streams and put in place a major recycling initiative that has had the added bonus of providing my employer with some significant cost savings. I have recently finished a six month contract working for a company that had been prosecuted by the HSE for not having a Health and Safety Management system in place. My immediate responsibility was to produce and implement a Health and Safety Management System along the lines of HSG65 and ISO18001 This was achieved by organising the planning for hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control. Developing a comprehensive OHSAS management programme. Setting up the company Health and Safety structure and Health and Safety responsibilities. Ensuring that all training, awareness and competence assessments were in place. Setting up clear avenues of consultation and communication and ensuring systems were in place for Operational control /Emergency preparedness and response. Once all these systems were in place I then put in place procedures to enable effective performance measuring, monitoring and improvement. I believe that I have excellent man management skills and actively contribute to a produce positive teamwork environment at all times. I have willingly taken on the extra responsibilities and have managed to perform these tasks without it affecting my primary role as Health and Safety Manager; on the contrary I feel that through carrying out these roles my management and man-management skills have improved tremendously.
