I have not posted on this forum before but seen as my boss just asked a question I am really unsure of the answer to (and he wanted to know by 10am).... I thought I would turn and seek assistance from those more learned than I. I am a little 'wet behind the ears' so I apologise now if this is something I should know already!
The question was, do we need to have a map of our compressed air system as a requirement by law?
Any assistance greatly recieved

You need to refer to the pressure systems safety regs 2000. Whilst acknowledging that I'm not fully ofay myself with them, I do know that your system must be covered by a regular testing scheme and written sceme of works which will require a plan of all the pipe work. Two companies I've come across in trying to find suitable testers (usual disclaimer) are Airware Pnumatics and Maxaura.

HL,
I don't think its a legal requirement but it certainly something that would be advantageous to have. The pressure system as a whole requires a written scheme of examination, which you can do or your inspecting insurance body will provide for a fee). This should detail who is going to inspect, what they are going to look at and how often they will do it. I would expect a statement to say that the pressure system (pipes, not end appliances) would be inspected for leaks, corrosion, damage etc every 1,3,5,7 yrs (depending on type, usage age etc) or whatever you feel is suitable. The pressure system (pipes) is unlikely to fail catastopichally

So, the regs require regular examinations and inspections, and if you don't know where the pressure lines are how are you going to ask someone to inspect them?
My opinion and stand to be corrected.
Humbly yours
Holmezy
