cdm Co-ordinator Training/Competence Requirements

I have been asked to look into this so sorry for any ignorance !!!
What is deemed as suitable training to become a cdm co-ordinator ?? I have looked into it and I am getting slightly conflicting information; on one hand the Nebosh Construction Cert and on another a APS Accredited course.
Can anyone shed any light ??

I will put my head above the parapet here and state that the APS course is really only about knowledge of the CDM acop while NEBOSH is about H&S. In the case of a CDMC neither is good enough alone. I will reiterate that the primary intention of the CDM regs with respect to CDMCs is that it was intended that the role was Corporate rather than individual except on very small jobs. One therefore needs a balance across the providing organisation. Not a popular view however among those wishing to create a new profession!!

Entirely dependent on the complexity of the Project. Have a read through the CDM ACoP (free as pdf from HSE), particularly the Appendices.

NEBOSH Construction & SMSTS are primary training as mentioned in the ACoP and are accepted towards RMAPS. Another good course i undertook was the APS approved 2 day Design Risk Management course run by Synergy. This course proved invaluable and gives great insight into the design element of risk management that I feel a competent CDMC requires.
Apart from these... 20 years on the tools helps tremendously
