Hi, We have a large photocopier loctated in a rather small office with a staff of 3 people. Concerning the emmision/ vapour given off by the photcopying process and the limited ventilation, is there any risk to health? As I understand it there used to be a hazard created by the dust from older cartridge type copiers, and that there was a risk to women of a child bearing age? All comments and advice greatfully recieved. Will

Unfortunately there is no clear answer to this. An Australian study a few years ago suggested that some photocopiers MAY give out particles which MIGHT pose a health risk but hey was no consistency in the results. Same make and model in different locations produced widely different results. You could try to measure the levels of respirable particles produced but I am not sure what this would tell you. The only control would be to move the photocopier out of the office- they are noisy nasty things anyway. Can you move it out or are you stuck with it?
