On a project we are currently working on we will be sub-contracting a small part of the work out.
The task to be carried out is laying down tarmac to a play area. The job will take two days to complete and its at the value of 5k.
Obviously I need to assess there competence before they start works. I am sure they are more than competent as they are a large well established organisation.
How much information shall I obtain from them. i.e.
> Risk assessments
> Method statements
> Policy
> Insurance
> training certificates
Do you think I need any further information or do you already feel this is excessive for the size and nature of the job ?
Thought please ?

Why not save yourself a lot of work and ask them if they're already registered or currently assessed as compliant with one of the commercial PQQ systems (CHAS, SSIP, Achilles Verify etc. etc.)?
This will allow you to focus more on the Project specifics of timing, traffic management, client overlap and potential conflicts, protecting the public etc. and allow the contractor to focus on developing a project specific method statement.

I was hoping you would pop into this thread Ron,
Good idea about that CHAS, once I have that I will just ask for a project specific method statement and Risk assessment and this should suffice,
Thanks
