The discussion I am having with a colleague is about the need to have some form of formal training plan and a formal pre-use check system for the use of basic lifting equipment. The equipment is basically a pivotting arm,counter-balanced workshop crane, and a manual scissor lift table capable of lifting up to 500kgs (motors etc). Your advice would be appreciated.

adequate training is required by law and the risk assessment process is the way to appraise the situation and ID the needs Additionaly insurance companies and suppliers what certain things; inclusive of training, to be done Just because you are an 'expert' in one area does not mean that you do not need updating etc
