Is there any document that explains the approach to TapRoot Analysis for root causes without using the software? Our client has asked us to perform the root cause analysis using the TapRoot method. Buying the software is an option that has been ruled out by my management. I would like to know if I can use the method manually and perform a root cause analysis.
Any help?
Regards,
Prads

Any and all analysis can be undertaken without the use of specialist IT systems. However IT systems have been designed to help make things quicker etc so users can operate the system with training without them needing to be mathmatitions etc and thats the point; unless you are good at maths etc and are used to using/creating flow diagrames etc and have been appropriately trained etc any findings that they are will be open to question

Prads, no, you don't need the software.
Visio (or similar) will allow you to generate the 'timeline/causation events'.
If you've done the TapRoot course, you should have received a hardback pocket diary-sized book which contains all you need to format a report.
If you haven't done the course, you'll struggle, as the terminology can be confusing without the reference material.

Ross
