What has happened to the Lord Young Review, I thought it was supposed to be out by now?

Ditto: "by the end of summer" was Cameron's statement. All I've seen is David Young milking the conference scene with the same tired litany. His much vaunted speech at conference was no better. I think it barely runs for 5 minutes and was not even reported (it's on the conservative's website as full text). By anyone's reckoning he's well past the deadline and if this were me, I wouldn't get paid with that sort of delay. If he ever does publish it'll be at least November now, unless George Osbourne wants it to divert attention from publicity on budget cuts next week. Not exactly inspirational, is it? This idea of consultant accreditation which supposedly followed his draft report has also gone very quiet.

Article in latest SHP MAg suggests HSE will be (at least initially) running an accreditation register for Safety Practitioners (just 'safety' apparently, occ. health and other areas presumably excluded). Yes, you have to pay a fee to get on the Register. No, not mandatory. I would have thought there might be lessons to learn from the recent demise of ABICS (see http://www.abics.org/)
