The guidance for First Aid at Work states companies should ensure sufficient provision is always available when employees are at work. In our HQ we are well covered however in our smaller regional offices we have staff who will decide to pop into the office to work at the weekend or after everyone has gone home (not always one person). Apart from the lone working risk here what do other companies do to ensure first aid cover. Clearly it is unreasonable to expect our trained first aiders to be around at weekends just in case. Does anyone have a system in place that works.

The phrase 'reasonably practicable' springs to mind here, as does the fact that what you quote is guidance rather than regulations. We have numerous lone workers, from people on their own in an office to people out delivering care in community settings, and what we do is provide lone workers with a basic first aid kit and some sound advice,
