After many a discussion regarding diploma - NVQ route I have finally decided to start the NVQ L4 route with a personnel assessor.
If any one has completed it this way previously and has advice tips or assistance in anyway it would be helpful.
I was told at my first interview/meeting the speed is up to me and he will be directed by my pace.

What is the quickest anyone has achieved this ?
I am currently working as a Health & Safety Manager within the construction industry and will be using this as my means of being assessed and deemed (hopefully) competent

Anyway I though it be a good idea to have regular updates and see how it progresses if someone is just starting the diploma it may be worth seeing who and what can be achieved via each route.

First module is 615 Identify assess and control health & safety risks, next meeting is Tuesday 2nd Nov I will need to crack on with completing this module will keep you informed after this has been completed or more work required. Any pointers on this module please feel free to pm me

Thanks

Alan

I completed my L4 in 11 months, as I was doing the H & S job anyway, its easier if you are actually doing the job, your evidence and work will fall into place, the assessors will come around to your work place, and ask you questions specific to H & S. If you need help just PM me, Good Lick

Good luck Alan, wanting to go down this route once i've got my General Cert out of the way.

Assuming you're using someone locally, can you drop me a PM with details as i'm based in Kirkby workwise.

Ta!

It is not possible to do the NVQ level 4 route if you are not actually doing the job!

I did mine through distance learning, had it completed within 4 months, but had to hold off for assessment as OCR requirements was that you had to be registered 6 months before you could be externally assessed.

If you training provider is up to scratch and you follow the cars, it is pretty straight forward. One tip I would give you though is start and finish one module at a time, otherwise you will lose track of where you are, as a number of pieces of evidence can be crossed referenced to following units.

Good Luck

Reference and cross reference as you proceed otherwise you will have a hellish task as you approach the end. Also provide an index.

Hi Alan, I am in Liverpool and like yourself have just started the NVQ 4, finding it quite easy to fit in around work although the referencing and cross referencing thing is a real mind-blower (good call re the indexinig Nigel)

Good luck keep us informed x

Hi Alan, I'm an assessor for the NVQ and also went through that route myself. You may find it useful to automatically cross reference as you add evidence, it keeps the 'pace' up and reflects back nicely on your progress.....
By cross referencing as you go (it is awkward until you get the hang of it) it also helps identify gaps and as you get used to it search for or produce evidence that covers a wider range of units.
Best of luck and also look to keeping the CPD going for the advance to chartership and infinity beyond!
