Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone can help with this.
We are in the process of purchasing a new storage tank for heating oil for an industrial heater. We have selected the self bunding type.
Apart from the obvious issues like fire, access, away from buildings and the like, are there any other issues with where the tank can be located?
The site we are thinking of is not on a main traffick route and not next to the building (3meters away).
I'm not ure if there are any regulatory requiremnts to consider?
Many Thanks
Will

Top inlet and top outlet seem to be flavour of the month in my dealings with the EA at the moment as if you damage the pipe etc then theoretically the oil will not run away.
You might also want to consider how far the delivery driver has to drag his delivery hose; also consider security - lots of oil theft about.
From an environmental viewpoint consider if you were to be unfortunate enough to experience a leak/spill (which you may if you get a theft as thieves do not normally bother about spillages etc) where will the oil run to - drains, ditches watercourses etc. It might be worthwhile checking if you are on an aquifer (EA website - what's in my back yard?).
