Thank you for yuor replies. No i have not worked in education previously though this is a mainstream school with an SEN department. You are certainly correct there is a lot to learn but makes it more interesting but quite tiring. i will be discussing the requirements at length with the SEN department and I have suggested that the three SEN depts in the academies I cover get together to pool thoughts and learn together to put in the systems and procedures to reduce the risks. It is interesting that none of the teaching staff I have encountered have any effective knowledge of the practical implementation of health and safety in their environment but they have all been willing to listen and respond, this does bode well for the work ahead to implement a whole system in all three places starting effectively from scratch. my thanks for your comments.
