Just a gentle reminder to all you hands on professionals out there, as the cold snap bites and the snow starts to lie your colleagues may try to sneak in their own personal heaters. This increases the risk of fire alarm activations or real fires. Take 15 minutes out of your busy day and check that every final exit door opens easily and that external fire routes are not blocked, if the snow continues set up a system so that this is done at least daily.

Well said thomas, a good pro active approach.
It would be good and interesting if others shared their extra fire safety actions during this snowy period.

This is a very good point. The issue of making sure they are turned off at the end of the day is also very important - especially where employees have them under their desks. Our cleaners have reported them being left on, so a reminder to all staff to take responsiblity to turn them off.
