During July and August a local school runs a summer school for foreign students (age range 8-17 years). All accidents are recorded.
My question is how long should these accident reports be held. Obviously as all the students are foreigners from the EU and far East different rules may apply.
The school currently holds them under UK legislation i.e. 3 years after the student leaves school (generally 18 so they are destroyed when the student is 21 years old.
Anyone have a definitive answer please.

Without double checking at this early hour I think that the retention period is 3 years from when they are 21 not from when they are 18?
A persons nationality etc has no consequence

I would say that the 18+3 is a minimum. However, the limitations act allow for a claim to be made within 3 years of a diagnosis so that could be any time in the future. I think that you should therefore keep records indefinately in electronic form, that shouldn't take up too much hard drive.
