There is a website that I have looked at with some good info on I will try and source it and put up on here for you. I am of the understanding that the new symbols etc does not come into force until 2015 (I think), and will be phased in.

Please note that there are different phase in periods for labels for packaging for substances and mixtures in European Union that has been implemented by the European Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on "Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures" commonly known as CLP Regulation
Transitional periods for Substances:-
1st December 2010 to 1st June 2015
Suppliers MUST classify substances according to both CHIP (Old) and CLP (new).
They MUST label and package according to CLP (new) only.
1st June 2015 onwards
Suppliers must classify and label according to CLP (old DSD/CHIP classifications disappear entirely)
Transitional periods for Mixtures (i.e. Preparations):-
20th January 2009 to 1st June 2015
Suppliers can continue to classify, label and package according to CHIP (DPD). However they may, as an alternative choose to classify, label and package mixtures according to CLP. In this case, they must in addition continue to classify under CHIP (for SDS), but the requirements for labelling and packaging of CHIP no longer apply.
1st June 2015 onwards
Suppliers must classify, label and package according to CLP only (old CHIP/DPD classifications disappear)
Yes, these are the "Globally Harmonised System" (GHS ) symbols, but different countries/regions have different implementation timetables. The EU was amongst the first to implement, although there is a longer transitional period.
