Hi all,
Well with only a week left to work before the break, I thought I'd through this one for fun out there as I asked it myself and was not sure I had an answer.
Lets just say Wayne Rooney suffers a twisted ankle this weekend whilst playing for United against Chelsea and cannot train or play for the first team "his normal duties" for "over 3 days" is this reportable?
Cheers

Off the top of my head I think that a similar question has been asked before and the answer was something about sportsmen/women being excempt from RIDDOR under such circumstances.

Thanks guys, I suspected an exemption somewhere. Out of curiosity where is that exemption? I must admit I'm not sure where that sits, couldn't see it within the restrictions on application.
Cheers

Injuries arising from sporting accidents
"Whether or not to report accidents which occur during professional sport is a subject of much debate. The comments below are intended to assist in resolving uncertainties.
Assuming the injuries are ‘major’ or ‘over-three-day’, injuries suffered by professional footballers (including trainees) and other sportsmen and women whilst they are ‘at work’, whether during training or as part of a game, could fall within the scope of RIDDOR. The interpretation of the three key factors outlined above (see A guide to the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995[3]) will govern reportability.
Therefore, routine ‘foreseeable’ events, eg injuries during tackles (whether fouls or not) or muscle strains arising during fitness training, will not be reportable. Accidents arising from defective plant eg gym equipment, advertising hoardings etc will be reportable.
Injuries arising from acts of violence which stray beyond what would reasonably be accepted within the nature of the activity would not normally be reportable, and in extreme circumstances they could be considered as assault. However, the incidents should be recorded and investigated."

Who would report it as WR is self employed and undertaking a piece of work of his own for himself the event would be out of his personal work activities he is not, as I know it, employed by Man U
