I think some people need to grow up.
But it's typical of this forum at the moment that someone has to spoil a thread that was just a long term member saying goodbye as they take work in other fields due to tough economical times. There was nothing to make it contentious but someone always has to make it so.
I certainly won't miss that type of troublemaking.
Thanks to all of those who have wished me well. Even those that I have clashed with many times on this forum. Shows strength of character to be able to take such gestures.
PS,
Ron. I still understand the Raymond Chanlder novel comment...please tell!!!

Very best wishes Claire, I sincerely hope it all works out for you, your contributions will be sorely missed.
P.S. Raymond Chandlers novel was called the 'The Long Goodbye'...... oh well, what did you expect? I'm reminded of the phrase Keep Calm and Carry On.

Take a look at what the IOSH website says about this forum:
==
"Here you can discuss health, safety and environmental issues in the broadest sense - risk management, environmental protection, healthcare, hygiene, education, quality management or business - the topics are endless"
===
Where's the problem?

Also sorry that you're leaving and wish you all the best with your new venture.
Hope you will still have the odd look to see what is the topic of the day - ;)
Unusually here at this time on a Friday doing some research for an urgent bit of work that arrived on my desk this lunchtime.

Good Luck Clairel for the future, I'll certainly miss the verbal joists you had in the past on these forums.
Hope the new venture works out as certainly construction is generally not looking too healthy right now. Maybe things might pick up in the future perhaps maybe we will have to look at new sectors and jump through the hoops to get in there also interms of quals etc.
All the best for the future - don't let the doubters break you down. Go for it !
John.

Farrel,
Of course! it is about safety, this is a friend and colleague departing from our profession due to whatever reason, we are losing a very special person who has the safety of the nation at heart.
Claire,
Have a great festive, and good luck with the new challenge, happy "skin sky diving" ? :):)

Hi Clairel
I have been in the same position as yourself regarding finding work (luckily enough I did); it can be very frustrating not getting interviews especially as you're fully chartered.
When I didn't have work I worked for agencies on conveyor belt etc where Health & Safety was non existent; but you just carried on as in the end money was needed to support the family, so I can definitely relate to your change of direction into a non health & safety role.
I completed the level 6 Nebosh Env Dip which if this sector falls foul to the government plans, environmental positions should stay afloat (until they see this as hindering businesses as well as H&S).
Anyway good luck with your new career choice and you can now look on into this forum and H&S as a fly on the wall documentary.
Phil

Not my rules IOSH make the rules and unfortunately this is accordance with the rules does not meet the criteria. But unlike other people regarding others posts I am not asking for it to be removed as I believe that it is not for me to ask this. So carry on saying goodbye for as long as you wish.

I am not going anywhere but if I was in this weather I would ensure that I had a camping stove, sleeping bag, 6 pairs of socks, 2 coats. 3 pairs of trousers not jeans (as they stay cold when wet), etc. etc. etc. The white stuff on the floor is slippy or so someone told me. Take care out there it's a big world, that's H&S in a nmut shell.
