Hi all, I'm about to embark on my CPD. I am finding it a bit daunting given the fact that i have until feb 2011 to get it completed. I have left it until now as i have completed the NEBOSH Dip and a Masters between 2008 and 2010. I have also changed roles within my company which has meant i have completely neglected my CPD. I have combined all my experience(s) to date (inc. education) in chronological order together with supporting documentation and i am happy to follow it. My question is does anyone have an example of a development plan? IOSH have said there is no right or wrong way of doing this but i would like to get an idea of what level of detail is required in a development plan. Thanks.

Dinny, Your CPD is your CPD and should be an account of your development. In my case I started with my job description and filed it under Job Description. I also compiled a CV and filed that under Profile . My reasoning being that any auditor can see exactly what I do and where I have come from. I had a very simple development plan that stated I would try to attend 80% of SE Branch meetings and that because of the nature of my work which did not allow forward planning with any accuracy I would fill in my CPD retrospectively in most cases. I also stated that I would attend development courses, seminars and meetings where business permitted. When my circumstances changed & I was made redundant I updated my development plan to reflect that I would be reading more and going on these forums more. What do I put in my CPD? Every branch and consultants meeting I attend whether I give them a credit or not. Every "event" where I think I learn something significant (this could be during an audit, talking to my peers, doing a method statement - anything), every course I attend, meetings I attend. Each "event" I award a credit from 0 to 3 depending what I believe I learned from that "event". I find it easiest when filling in my CPD to type up the description first in word then just paste it in. I normally fill in a few at a time but type up in word soon after the event so I do not forget anything significant. Take Care

Thanks Fletcher, I appreciate your advice. I think the Job Description and CV is a very good starting point for me.
