I'm updating our procedures regards COSHH and CLP - risk phrases to hazard statements etc, etc. Then I realised that DSEAR bases its definitions of flammable, highly flammable, etc. on CHIP. CHIP is being replaced by CLP. Therefore what happens to DSEAR? Will the HSE fit casters to the goal posts so they can be conveniently moved. Interesting times for consultants if that happens! Can anyone comment?

You could start by reading this page and the links: http://www.hse.gov.uk/fi...ion/dsear/background.htm Fortunately, the properties of substances are not at the whim of legislation. The ease with which you can identify them may be.
