I am in the process of implementing OHSAS18001 and would like to obtain some sample procedures to get some ideas. Can anybody provide me with some sample documents or advise where a good source of information can be located.

Many Thanks,

Mark.

Mark

It is your system and thus the procedures should refelct your format and document control - I think you need some expert guidance. Most QMS guidance will help in this area.

Hi Mark,

When it comes the procedures for OHSAS18001, I would personally avoid samples. The problem is with samples is they are written for another company which in most cases will not do the same thing you do.

For OHSAS18001 you must address each section of the standard, but most important is that it works for your company and it doesnt become a hinderance.

the process I follow is (using 4.4.7 emergency preparedness and response as the example)

The standard requires you to Identify, prevent and plan to control hazards etc in the event of an emergency

So I would look at what the potential emergencies could be and their effects
what procedural elements for addressing these would suit the company
What, if any, forms, documented controls and evidence would be required
Who is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of this procedure
What the process would be in the event of an emergency occurring (in a flow chart OHSAS accreditors love these)

All the above forms the procedure for that particular standard.

If you need any guidance let me know.

p.s. How the procedure is audited and checked needs to be in the procedure (4.5 checking)
